Kyohei TAKANO, CMO

MD, MScPH

Physician, Chairperson and Director of Misao Ladies’ Hospital, MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, MSc from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and graduate of Gifu University Medical School.

From his student years, he was aware of global healthcare disparities, interning at a Palestinian refugee camp and participating in the Japan-America Student Conference. After graduating from Gifu University Medical School, he completed obstetrics and gynecology training in Japan and obtained his specialist certification in obstetrics and gynecology. He then moved to the UK, where he conducted research on maternal and child health in low-income countries at both the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, earning a master’s degree in public health. He worked as a public health consultant at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headquarters in the UK, focusing primarily on infection control. He decided to open his own practice and, at the age of 37, acquired Misao Ladies’ Hospital through a personal M&A. Since 2023, he has held his current position, contributing to regional healthcare in Gifu with a staff of approximately 90, including 11 doctors. He is a father of two and assisted in delivering his own children.
